TEAS preparation classes- Fall 2020

Hello!  This post is to let you know that I will be offering the TEAS Prep class again this fall- starting on September 1st.  Orientation for this class will occur on August 13th. (There will be a makeup date for students who can't attend on this date). 

It is highly likely that the fall class will be an online class because of the Coronavirus pandemic. Being "online" means that you will meet with me in a virtual classroom (most likely on ZOOM).  You will also be using your computer to visit various websites, through links provided by me, to learn and study.  I will teach you how to use the technology to access these learning materials.
You will need to have a device like an ipad, chromebook, or laptop to take the course. If you do not have a device, we may be able to help you acquire one.

The first day of the new session of preLPN  class is Wednesday January 18, 2017.   I am looking forward to seeing all of my former students return and also to getting to know my new students. Please arrive on time so that we do not disturb the class next door.  Class runs from 9 am - 12pm.  Please bring something to take notes in (a binder with looseleaf paper or a spiral notebook), a folder for handouts, and a pen and pencil.  If you have 1 or 2 colored pencils, you can bring those as well.  Otherwise, I have some in the classroom that you can use. 
Bring your positive attitude, and take that first big step on your journey to being a nurse!

New Class Orientation is January 12th, 2017

Hello! Anyone who wishes to join the Winter 2017 preLPN class held at Career Link should plan on coming to Orientation on Thursday, January 12th.  At this orientation, I will explain the details of my class as well as give you some background information about the TEAS test.  In addition, anyone who has not taken a TABE test in the last 150 days will be required to take this basic test of math and reading.  You do not need to study for this test!  This test will simply let me know which skills you have and which skills you still need to acquire.  (Those of you who took the test on August 31, 2016, or later ,will not need to re-take the TABE test, but I still would like you to come to orientation).

Orientation will be held in Room 21 in the basement of Career Link and will start at 9am.  Brand new students who have never taken the TABE test for me will need to stay until approximately 1230pm.  Please do the best you can to arrange to have this day free until 1pm.   If you absolutely cannot make this orientation date, I will need to speak to you - please email me at Elizabeth_woratyla@iu13.org
My class is filled based on the call-in date of the student.  Those who attend orientation on the scheduled day are given priority.  Please keep this in mind and do the best you can to attend orientation.  Looking forward to meeting all of you and congratulations on taking that first step toward educating yourself for a better future!!

August 9th update-  
Hi Students!   Some of you have asked me about purchasing study guides for the TEAS test.   In class, we will be using lots of different materials to prepare for the TEAS and you actually are NOT REQUIRED to purchase any study guide.  There are many study guides out there and none of them are perfect.  However, I do have a set in the classroom of what I think is one of the best because it is written by the ATI testing service itself.  ATI testing service wrote the TEAS, and therefore, I think that their study guide matches up best with the actual test.  However, their newest version of the study guide is very expensive, and I don't recommend it.   I will discuss this at length at orientation... for now, I would recommend that you hold off on purchasing any study guide unless you find an inexpensive, used copy online.  Remember, you do not NEED to purchase a study guide to be in my class.
